What is Perimenopause?

Perimenopause is a natural part of a woman’s life. It’s the stage before your final period (menopause) when your body is transitioning to the end of its reproductive years. Oh, and to top it off, you can still get pregnant during this time.
Perimenopause usually starts in a woman’s 40s. On average it lasts four to six years, but it can last from one to 10 years.
During perimenopause, a woman’s ovaries start to run out of eggs, causing hormone levels particularly oestrogen to be irregular. The monthly cycle changes during perimenopause with a roller coaster of light and heavy. To top it off we are unnaturally grumpy and lose our bottle at the smallest of issues.
